Purchase Guidelines

Contracts

Written contracts shall be executed whenever Texas A&M University enters into a binding agreement with another party that involves any stated or implied consideration. Contracts are construed to include, but not be limited to, the following: purchase orders, agreements, cooperative agreements, memoranda of understanding, interagency contracts, grants, loans, easements, licenses, leases, permits, and restrictions on acceptances of gifts and bequests. Please see the Contract Administration SAP for procedures and delegation of authority.

Most departmental personnel do not have the authority to "execute" a contract by signing as a representative of Texas A&M University. All contracts should be submitted/routed to Contract Administration for review, approval and to determine the appropriate delegation of authority.
